I want this tutorial to be able to help anyone that finds this website, I also want to make sure that each one of these tutorials can be viewed as a stand alone training.

In this case, I want this WordPress training to help you whether you are brand new to WordPress and marketing, or your a highly trained internet marketer.

To make sure that this tutorial helps everyone I am going to do a short walk through and introduction to WordPress. We are going to go over the basics.

This introduction is going to include:

  • How to navigate you're WordPress website (back-end)
  • How to add and remove content on your website
  • How to add and remove Plug-ins
  • How to update your plug-ins and themes
  • How to create navigational menus
  • How to update themes and plug-ins

How to Navigate WordPress Back-end

To start out, you're going to want to get to your log in screen by going to you're log-in url. It should look like this:

https://www.yourdomainname.com/wp-login.php

That is always the standard default login page for your WordPress websites. So once you navigate there you will see your log-in page. It looks like this:

Now you need to log in using your login details that you set up in the previous tutorial "set up your WordPress website". If for any reason you cannot remember your log in details you can always hit the "Lost your password" link just under the login section.

Once you have added your log in details to the form and hit "log in" you are then redirected to the "back-end" of your WordPress website. That will look similar to this:

This is where everything happens. Where all of your content creation is done.

Where you add and remove themes, plug-ins, users. You can perform website backups, do health checks for your site. Update plug-ins and themes as well.

We are going to walk through all of this so that you have the best possible understanding of how to use you're WordPress website.

As GI Joe used to say "Knowing is half the battle" and in this case it's true.

How to Navigate You're Websites Back-End

To start off with, your website comes pre-installed with a couple of generic comments, pages, and posts that you might want to get rid of just to clear out all the junk so you can stay organized and make sure you start off with a clean slate.

Upon setting eyes on this back end at first might seem intimidating. Lets just take it one step at a time so as not to get overwhelmed.

First, you need to understand that the entire left hand side column is all navigational links (Buttons). Meaning that you can click on each one of the links to move to different pages of your back end.

It's how you move around inside your back office so that you can perform all the various tasks that you need to accomplish from day to day. Those links look like this:

By default there is usually one post, one page, and one comment that you can remove to help start off with a clean slate.

Below you will find two videos that will walk you through that and a few other things so that you start off on the right foot.

Here is a complete video walk through tutorial of:

  • How to navigate you're WordPress website (back-end)
  • How to add and remove content on your website
  • How to add and remove Plug-ins
  • How to update your plug-ins and themes
  • How to create navigational menus
  • a few other odds and ends

Please feel free to leave a comment, ask a question, or let me know if you think I should add something to this training.
